Saskatoon’s History Through the Lives and Experiences of its Greek Community
Businesses and Investment in Saskatoon
This section illustrates the business and investment interests of members of Saskatoon’s Greek comunity in their city. These interests have been categorized first, by location and then, by year of operation or investment. The purpose of this chapter is to show linkages between, and the evolution of, businesses and investments at various locations in Saskatoon. The dates, when combined with comparable general business and investment conditions in Saskatoon, show how the members of the Greek community responded. For example, the impact of the opening of Midtown Plaza in 1970 is reflected in this list by the established businesses, particularly in the food-service industry, that closed in response to changes in foot traffic in the Central Business District.
